As my 130-some subscribers know, I’m a scientist.
Science, historically, has been means to get us all to an agreed-upon reality.
What is reality❓
It is said What’s real stays, what’s unreal goes; science is written with a pencil, not a pen. Genuine scientists are willing to—metaphorically—erase or correct our misunderstanding of things (as opposed to believing in some indelible Truth).
Thanks to many converging variables, 2025 finds us at a time of global disagreement as to reality.
I’m confident, the Truth will prevail.
The movie Don’t Look Up captures today’s rampant urgency and anxiety. Therein, folk are slow to accept the Truth—that an earth-destroying meteor is hurling toward this, our blessed verdant home (a pale blue dot in space, a humanity-hospitable space-craft).
In today’s Substack-post from the eminent historian, Heather Cox Richardson, Dr. Heather directs her readers to the following:
Brian Stelter posted a December 9, 2017, quote from the New York Times: "Before taking office, Mr. Trump told top aides to think of each presidential day as an episode in a television show in which he vanquishes rivals."
Stelter wrote: “I think about this quote a lot.”
Our human existence is NOT a TV show.
Many historians are labelling our present era as The Trump Years.
I have childhood friends who are giddy about the steps being taken in the United States (and abroad) during Trump 2.0. I’m determined to maintain my relationships with these beloved friends…
Here on September 19, 2025, I urge us all to Look Up❗️, to 1) get in touch with our shared humanity and 2) Look Within❗️ our hearts while committing ourselves to the Truth.

Nice Pete - the thing about Truth though is that it is the product of actions based in humility and respect…. I’m working hard on seeing how Trump’s actions are based on those 2 qualities…. What’s his platform called? Truth Social? Maybe your childhood friends can help us all understand?!
